Give your child the competence, confidence, and skills of aquatic safety with Infant Swimming Resource's Self-Rescue program.

Give your child the competence, confidence, and skills of aquatic safety with Infant Swimming Resource's Self-Rescue program.

About Infant Swimming Resources

Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR), with it's Self-Rescue program, is nationally recognized as the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. With over 54 years of research and development, highly trained certified Instructors committed to safety, and a proven history of success, parents can rest assured that their children are receiving the best possible instruction in the world today.

ISR believes pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down, and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy and our over 300,000 ISR graduates and over 800 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves.

Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences; at ISR we take that ability and teach them skills to potentially save themselves if they find themselves in the water alone.

About ISR Lessons:

Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue® swimming program is scheduled 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for 10 minutes each day for an average of 6-8 weeks.

With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons by certified Instructors, ISR’s survival swimming lessons emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations, and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.

The ISR program is for children 6 months to 6 years of age.

Lessons for a 6-18 month old focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives. This skill is known as the rollback to float.

Lessons for children 18 months-6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, where they can either crawl out or until they can be rescued.

Statistics indicate that most children who fall into water are fully clothed. Therefore, once the children are fully skilled they will practice their ISR skills fully clothed.

Type of ISR Lessons:

New students will go through the entire 6-8 week program learning the skill set that is developmentally appropriate for their age.

Refresher lessons are extremely important in continuing and maintaining your child's ISR Self-Rescue® skill development. Children grow and develop rapidly from infants to toddlers and young children. This development process represents improved strength, coordination, and a more finely tuned cognitive ability. In accordance with this growth, children enrolled in ISR return periodically to participate in Refresher Lessons.

About Us

Shelby Anenson

My name is Shelby Anenson (White)  and I am a Certified ISR Instructor and CEO of Delta Babies ISR. I first found ISR through my mom who was the only Certified ISR Instructor in Lodi, CA at the time. After I graduated with my degree in Child and Adolescent Development from PLNU, I wanted to explore how to become an instructor. I was trained in Huntsville, Alabama through Senior Master Instructor Caroline Espy and I began Delta Babies ISR shortly thereafter. I teach out of my home pool as well as an indoor facility in Lodi, CA.

    MAINTENANCE LESSON

These lessons are for children who have already completed survival lessons. As the name implies, these lessons enable the children to "refresh" the skills that they have already learned. Students still attend lessons Monday-Friday. Since these skills are not new to the children, refresher lessons last between 2-4 weeks.
